The way to gain high value from your links is by using the words you want to rank high for as your anchor text. Instead of using “click here” or “mysite name” you should use words that you think people would search for when looking for your website. A good example would be “why backlinks are important” or “backlinks”. You can let your imagination run wild with all sorts of creative keyword textlinks. Proper keyword selection is important but that is the subject of a entire article on its own. Let’s just cap off this section by saying that you should always use only 3-5 varitions of your selected keywords as your anchor text. The more links with the selected keywords the better you will score for each of them.

So now we have our anchor text ready and we know why backlinks are important so lets talk about where to find good backlinks. A good backlink can be found anywhere. Start by looking for good forums that deal with your subject matter. Forums will often let you put a link in your signature so find some forums and make some profiles with your links in the signature. Another good way to get good backlinks is to comment on peoples blogs. Blog owners often let you put your link into your comment as a way of saying thanks for contributing to my website. Anther good place for backlinks is to write an article on a subject that deals with your website. Write an article and submit it to one of the many websites that allow you to submit them. Most of these websites let you put a link to your website at the bottom of your article. Lastly you can buy backlinks to save your valuable time.
